Agustus Gusto Gummi

For the first assignment in Character and Object Design we had to choose a character that we relate too in pop culture. So while other people did extremely well known characters such as Bart Simpson, or Spider-man, I did a little more obscure Gusto Gummi. He was from an 80's cartoon known as Disney's The Adventures of Gummi Bears.

The assignment was to write a 3 page paper over the character and how he relates to yourself, and draw a turnaround sheet. The turnaround sheet need a front, behind, side, 1/4 and 3/4 view shots. Granted as you will see below my 3/4 shot is kind of week, but the fact I added facial shots and action poses makes up for it, in my opinion.

This is the first piece that I started to draw using blue lead in my pencil.

Here's a quick summery of the character;
Gusto is an artistic single minded Gummi Bear from the kingdom of Dunwyn. He is rather moody with his attitude changing any moment from how well his work is going. He is easily obsessed with his work, and soon as he gets an drops everything and begins to sketch. He easily looses track of his surroundings being his friends or just the world around him. While a little too self indulged he will quickly put his life on the line to keep from others getting hurt.
